The Stone Cutter wins Gold Award, for best Ancient World book of 2023!

Since his debut novel The Stone Cutter was launched the last day of September, Brock Meier has been pleased with the marvelous reviews the book has been garnering—both from the literary/publishing world as well as from avid readers. In July, he received a silver (four-star) award from the Literary Titan, and then a five-star “Highly Recommended” award from Readers’ Favorite.

On New Year’s Eve 2023, the Historical Fiction Company (a significant historical fiction resource and influencer) released its “Best of 2023” awards. First on the list, under the category “Ancient World,” Brock Meier’s The Stone Cutter was revealed as that category’s Best of 2023 (the “Gold Award”). HFC’s review team is made up of authors, booksellers, librarians, educators, and avid readers, from all across North America and the UK, selected for their expertise in historical fiction.

The Historical Fiction Company is led by CEO D.K. Marley, a noted historical fiction author herself, as well as director of the online resource and promoter of all-things historical fiction. The resource offers editorial reviews, the History Bards Podcast, the Historical Times Magazine, the Hist Fic Chickie Blog, a research library, the Historium Emporium and Bookshop, the Historium Press publishing company, and diverse author services. Once a year, they judge the previous twelve month’s crop of new historical fiction novels for the most outstanding works in the genre. HFC’s Grand Prize “Book of the Year” for 2023 was The King of Nod, by Scott Fad.

Brock Meier said: “I’m humbled by the response my book has received. I’ve believed in the story for a long time, and it’s great to see that others are now appreciating it as well. Many thanks to all those who’ve believed in this novel with me. I hope this latest recognition will open new doors for the book to get into the hands of others who will be touched by the story of this man’s life.”
