What a celebration!

With a wonderful audience in attendance, Brock Meier’s debut historical fiction novel, The Stone Cutter, made its way into the physical world. And onto the “shelves” of Amazon, also Barnes & Noble, and pretty much wherever books may be sold.

The author’s dear friend, Don Bergis, acted as the celebration’s entertaining and engaging master of ceremonies. Don interviewed Brock Meier a few times throughout the morning, helping the audience gain insights into how, what, and why the author writes. The author also gave some deeper understanding into the novel itself, as well as the novel series, of which it is book one.

The centerpiece of the morning’s festivities was Bob Bennett‘s introduction to, and singing of his remarkable song, Man of the Tombs. The song was a significant part of the novel’s inspiration, and to have its author on hand to perform it was a singular treat. The deeply felt lyrics whetted the appetites of the audience to purchase the book.

The morning was opened with the dramatic book trailer for The Stone Cutter. And midway through the launch party, a sneek-peek into a possible audiobook in the works came in the playing of the book’s Prologue.

A mid-morning intermission was taken, allowing the crowd to peruse the display table, which held several historically relevant artifacts:

    • a stone inscription carved with letters in Nabataean Aramaic script, phonetically spelling out “brkmyrzthstnktr” (Brock Meier’s The Stone Cutter)
    • a set of authentic 2000 year old bronze coins, minted by four of the last kings of Nabataea
    • a custom made, fine jade ring, fashioned to emulate the queen’s ring appearing in the novel
    • a set of iron, stone-carving chisels, much like the ones used to carve the monuments of Petra

Overall, the audience, as well as all the participants, had a rollicking good time, sending the book out into the world!
