Audio interviews with The Stone Cutter characters
Our interviewer Jelani recently sat down with ten of the characters from Brock Meier’s novel of Petra, The Stone Cutter, and asked them about their lives. The interviews exposed information not directly revealed in the book: why certain things happened the way they did, their inner feelings, personal motivations, etc. The interviews cast a new and revealing light on the characters in their own words and emotions, and give fresh insight into who they are.
All interviews are now freely available on Youtube
Brock Meier has decided to release all the interviews to the public, via his Youtube channel, Brock Meier, author. (clicking the link will take you directly there). On Youtube, the audio tracks will appear as videos, but are simply still images of the characters superimposed over the audio—unfortunately, we were not able to capture video. The separate interviews vary from less than 2 1/2 minutes up to less than 13 minutes, with the total time coming to just less than an hour. You can easily pick and choose what you’d like to hear.
Does this mean an audiobook is forthcoming?
Many have asked about a possible audiobook for The Stone Cutter. The simple answer to this question is “We hope so!” The commitment to producing an audiobook is not one to be undertaken lightly. The financial investment and time commitment is substantial. But our experience with producing these brief audio interviews for you has certainly whetted our appetite to seeing a complete audiobook available. Not only could the book then attract a currently untapped population of listeners, but we believe it could also add a whole new dimension to the book for those who have already read it. Stay tuned!
And if you would appreciate having an audiobook available, please contact Brock via the “Contact” link in the header menu above, or leave a comment below. The more he hears a positive interest in such an offering, the more likely he is to venture out into new territory.
—Connected with this, one possibility to offering an audiobook would be to launch a Kickstarter Project for The Stone Cutter audiobook. If this sounds appealing, let him know!
